In Remembrance

Today begins the day of my blogging adventure and what a more privileged day to start on than a holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr. So let’s focus on him today. He was an admirable man who stood with such intent on the things he believed. The majority of the people were against him, but he knew what was right and he was going to fight for it until he no longer could. This kind of passion inspires me. It is passionate people who change the world and I would say his fight for civil rights was one of the largest social changes this country has ever seen. This movement strikes right where my heart lies – right in the center of justice and equality. I love the boldness of this man. I love his willingness to stand when no one else would and his drive to bring love into a society where there was such hate.

I read a quote from MLK Jr. today that I found to be beautiful….

“I have decided to love. If you are seeking the highest good, I think you can find it through love. And the beautiful thing is that we are moving against wrong when we do it, because John was right, God is love. He who hates does not know God, but he who has love has the key that unlocks the door to the meaning of ultimate reality.”

I desire this kind of love. The kind that unlocks reality. The kind that moves me away from wrong. The kind that gives grace. The kind that sets people free.
